As the weather cools, we enter Vata season.

In Ayurveda, Vata is the dosha associated with air and movement. During this time of year, it's common to feel less grounded and more anxious.

Here are some tips for staying grounded during Vata season:

  • Eat grounding foods. This includes gourds like pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and zucchini, as well as cooked whole grains and warm soups.

  • Repeat affirmations. Choose affirmations that resonate with you, such as "I am grounded," "I am centered," and "I am calm." Repeat them to yourself throughout the day, especially when you're feeling anxious.

  • Go for walking meditations. Walking in nature is a great way to ground yourself and calm your mind. As you walk, focus on your breath and your surroundings.

  • Stick to a regular sleep schedule. Going to bed and waking up at the same time each day helps to balance your circadian rhythm.

  • Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water and use natural oils to moisturize your dry skin.

Here is an example of a decadent oil mix you can make at home:

  • 1/2 cup sesame oil

  • 1/4 cup almond oil

  • 5 drops lavender essential oil

  • 2 drops clove essential oil

  • 1 drop jasmine essential oil

Mix all ingredients together in a jar and massage into your skin as needed.

Following these tips can help you to stay grounded and calm during Vata season.

Wishing you wellness,

Nasreen xx
